Check Out Acura’s Technology Features

Acura is always searching for better ways to empower drivers. From the convenience of Acuralink® to the AcuraWatch™ suite of driver assistant features, Acura offers the best technology available to make your drive more convenient and safer. Here are just some Acura tech-savvy features you should check out.

Acuralink® is a smartphone app that allows you to connect to your Acura vehicle from nearly anywhere. Featuring remote start and stop, remote lock and unlock, vehicle locator and destination by voice, Acuralink® offers the ultimate in driver convenience. The Last Mile feature even provides walking directions to your vehicle. Perfect for when you’re at a ball game or shopping at a mall. Acuralink® also offers geofencing features and speed notifications to make sure that others using your vehicle are behaving and operating the vehicle safely. (Just what you need if you let your teenager drive your Acura.) The Acuralink® security alarm and stolen vehicle locator will help ease your mind that your vehicle is safe, and if it is stolen, help the police find your vehicle.

But the features of Acuralink® don’t stop there. With your safety in mind, Acuralink® provides instant collision notifications to our operators, who can also connect you with 24-hour roadside assistance. Personal data wipe deletes all your personal information and destination history from the navigation system with the press of a button should your car be stolen or for when you sell or trade-in your car. The dashboard feature allows you to view fuel levels, mileage and oil life remotely. The wellness feature lets you check the operation of your vehicle and e-mails you service reminders and monthly reports on the “health” of your vehicle.

The Acura Cockpit

For the driving experience, all Acuras feature a precision cockpit. The ergonomic interior design keeps you and your passengers comfortable, especially while you’re on longer rides. The touchpad controls are intuitive and offer selections at the touch of a button – so there’s no more fumbling around trying to figure out what button does what. Available GPS climate control keeps you comfortable no matter which side of the car the sun is hitting the hardest, and the Head-Up display provides vehicle information while you’re driving, so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road. The surround-view display offers a 360-degree view around the entire vehicle, making vehicle maneuvers – like parallel parking – easier and safer.

Acura Head Up Display

The AcuraWatch™ driver assistance features offer even more convenience and safety.  Engineered to enhance the driver’s intuition, AcuraWatch™ allows you to enjoy the thrill of driving – all while helping you stay safer. Adaptive cruise control automatically adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a safe following distance while keeping pace with traffic. Lane Keep Assist and Road Departure Mitigation Systems (RDMS) first warns you if you begin varying from your lane (without using a turn signal), then gently auto-steers and/or provides braking if necessary (with RDMS) so you stay in the proper lane and helps keep your vehicle on the road.

The Collision Mitigation Braking System alerts the driver to obstacles ahead, and if action is not taken, provides emergency braking to prevent an accident. The Blind Spot Information System provides a visual notification of obstacles in the vehicle’s blind spot. If the driver signals in that direction, the vehicle provides an audible warning to the driver as well. The Rear Cross Traffic Monitor provides visual and audible warnings of approaching obstacles while backing up the vehicle, and — combined with the 360-degree view — provides full notification of all obstacles around the vehicle.

In inclement weather or slippery road conditions, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) provides the ultimate in traction control to enhance safety. Working with a sensor array, the anti-lock braking system and, if equipped, Acura’s Super-Handling All Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), VSA can detect wheel slippage and adjust braking and engine torque delivered to each wheel to prevent slipping and help maintain traction.

Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC): Where Technology Is Made

Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) allows engineers to work in a collaborative environment, creating new technologies and applying it to Acura’s vehicles in an ideal testing environment. The PMC created Acura’s exclusive Precision All-Wheel Steer™ (P-AWS®) system, the first ever offered on a production vehicle, offering increased agility and stability on Acura’s front-wheel drive vehicles.

The Sport Hybrid All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD®) system was developed at the PMC. The Sport Hybrid AWD offers dynamic handling, immediate acceleration, fuel efficiency and all-wheel drive stability. Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) is available in RLX, TLX and MDX.

Acura’s PMC is now working to deliver an automated driving system to give drivers some personal time back, reduce gridlock and make roads safer. The RLX test car is bringing Acura closer to the goal of releasing this technology around 2020.

With over a dozen patents, Acura’s technology is designed to enhance the driving experience while offering the convenience features that make your life easier.
